Inspired by Vincent van Gogh’s 1886 painting Head of a Skeleton with a Burning Cigarette, this hauntingly playful blend is perfect for the Halloween season. Painted during Van Gogh’s time at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, the work is thought to have been a humorous, rebellious response to the traditional anatomical studies that were part of his artistic training.
