Description
Star Anise oil has an intensely sweet, spicy, warm aroma that is sometimes described as licorice-like. Though Anise oils are used to flavor licorice products they have nothing in common with pure licorice root or extract. Star Anise comes from the fruit of a native Southeastern Asian tree, Illicum verum. Analysis of this material confirms the presences of anethole, anisyl acetone, anisaldehyde, p-allylanisole, p-cumic aldehyde, and p-allypen.
